In the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, Jamil Ladell Moore has filed a class action lawsuit against Foxtrot Retail, Inc., Outfox Hospitality LLC, and Dom’s Market LLC. The case number is 1:24-cv-3272 and it was filed on April 24, 2024. The lawsuit is based on the defendants' alleged failure to provide notice of mass layoff or plant closing under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) and the Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (IWARN).

The plaintiff, Jamil Moore, represented by his attorneys, claims that he along with other employees were subject to plant closings and/or a mass layoff without being provided with the requisite notice under WARN and/or IWARN. The defendants are Illinois corporations engaged in operating grocery stores, markets, and coffee shops serving Chicagoland communities for over five years.

On April 23, 2024, over 30 Dom’s and Foxtrot locations permanently closed without prior notice to their employees. This abrupt closure led to immediate termination of all employees at these locations. Furthermore, no employees of Foxtrot or Dom’s were given prior notice of termination on April 23, 2024.

Moore seeks judgment for himself and all others similarly situated for the damages caused by this abrupt closure. He demands compensation for not being provided with requisite notice under WARN and IWARN.
